Dr. Ping Guo

Dr. Ping Guo joined the Computer Science faculty at UIS as an assistant professor in Fall 2015and she's awardedtenure and promoted to the rank of associate professor in Fall 2021. Her research interests include scientific and high-performance computing, parallel and distributed systems,machine learning, cloud computing, big data, and wireless networking.Duringherearly career at UIS, Dr. Guo published 12 peer-reviewed research papers and received three external grants from theNVIDIA Corporation and twoNSF-funded XSEDEprograms.Additionally, she was a recipient of the UIS Competitive Scholarly Research Grant and the CLAS One-Year Faculty Scholarly Enhancement Support Grant.Due to her reputation as an outstanding researcher and a great deal of accomplishments she has in scholarship, Dr. Guowas invitedto serve as an editor, aguest editor, a technical committee member, and a paper reviewer for more than 20 prestigious journals and international conferences, including the Journal of IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS), the Journal of IEEE Transactions on Computers(TC), the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing (JPDC), the International Journal of Digital Content Technology and Its Application (JDCTA), the Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science (MSC), the IEEE International Conference on Pervasive, Intelligence and Computing (PICom),the IEEE International Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering (SOSE), and the International Conference on Internet of Things, Embedded Systems and Communications (IINTEC). Prior to joining UIS, Dr. Guo received herPh.D. degree in computer science from the University of Wyoming in 2014 and she was a visiting professorin the Department of Computer Science at the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in AY2014-2015.
